Intramural Sports
Intramural sports are a great way for freshmen to get involved on campus and make new friends. NAU's intramural sports is sponsored by Champ Sports and they help paying for referees, equipment, and other expenses. Sports that are offered by NAU include football, basketball, soccer, softball, table tennis, and many others. Most of the sports include all male leagues, all female leagues, co-rec leagues, and Greek leagues. The sports are offered in order for students to have fun, so it usually doesn't get too competitive. NAU's sports program is ran through IMleagues.com which offers sports to colleges all over the nation. When getting on the site you must create and login and give proof that you are a student at NAU. After that you can search through all the sports available and create a team and invite your friends, or you can join a team already created by a friend or any random student. The fee to join a team is $20. However, you only have to pay once a year. SO, if you pay to play football in the Fall semester, you can play sports throughout the Fall and Spring semester without having to pay again. SO check it out at IMleagues.com and search for Northern Arizona University.
Wow! I knew that NAU offered intramural sports, but I didn't know that the fee was only $20 for the entire year. That's a really awesome deal and I agree its a fun way for students to get involved and meet new people.
ReplyDeleteThat is actually quite a deal for sporting leagues. I think most incoming freshmen could easily swing that, if they plan ahead a little bit. I remember doing sports in grade school and my fees were easily over twice that. It's important to support programs like these, especially for the less popular sports. It allows students many opportunities to make friend and meet new people, while boosting their self-confidence. It's also important to make sure that Arizona State legislation is pressured to continue supporting these programs, because in light of the continual slew of budget cuts, it could quickly make it much more difficult for students to sign up.
