- The role that most aligns with my leadership style is student advocate because I like to help other people and be involved but also lead them to the right direction of the situation that they may be in.
- Some risk may be getting too involved with your students situation and putting your own feeling in the situation or extending your role more, to where is becomes more of a friendship. Also, maybe dealing with the situation yourself instead of leading them to the resource place to help them.
- Three important peer mentor relationship would be to have professionalism, compassion, and respect. These three are important to me because you want to be able to have a line drawn somewhere when working with your students and to be there to listen and guide them through their journey throughout school. With respect it is very important because you would want your students to give you the most respect back as you are giving to them.

Alisha! I really enjoyed reading your blog. I definitely agree with the three skills you listed. I didn't really think about compassion either so reading and thinking about that tool was helpful. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI also really enjoyed your blog and thought that your points were very similar to mine. I believe like you said that one of the biggest risks is getting to involved with your students situation because it can be hard to pull yourself back from their problems when you build that bond with our students and form a new friendship. i also agreed with your peer mentor relationships and thought that the three you listed were the most important for students.

ReplyDeleteI agree with all of the points you made! It is definitely a risk when it comes to crossing the mentee and friend boundary. I personally have never had that happen to me but I have seen it in another mentor who's student was disrespectful to them. It was an odd event to see but it's because they let the friend boundary go too far.
